Shawnee Forward Inc Announces Grant for Small Businesses in Pottawatomie County
Recently, Shawnee Forward Inc announced that a CARES Act fund worth $155,000 is now available as financial grants to small businesses in Pottawatomie County.
Applicant Criteria and Business Eligibility Requirements
Those deemed eligible for the grant are business owners who generated no more than $2 million in gross revenue in 2019, while employing not less than 50 full time workers or their equivalent during the same period. The program will award $5,000 as financial relief in line with the CARES Act released by Congress in response to the setbacks caused by the nationwide pandemic lockdown. Deadline for submission of application is set on Dec. 23, 2020.
As the grant program is administered by Shawnee Forward Inc. along with Pottawatomie County Commissioners, as well as officials from the cities of Tecumseh and Shawnee, a task force of members have been created to review all applications. A set of guidelines have been published in the Shawnee Forward Inc. website detailing the applicant criteria and eligibility requirements.
Those who are board members and staff of businesses owned by individuals serving as members of the Tecumseh Chamber of Commerce (TCC) and of the Shawnee Forward Inc, are automatically not eligible for the grant program.
According to Leslie Merritt, a Director at TCC, their organization consists of more than a hundred members that are devoted to helping small local businesses nationwide. Additionally, the Commissioners of Shawnee City and Pottawatomie County, are likewise not eligible to apply for the grant program.
